Giving birth to her first child in July 2013 inspired Lucy Stroup to become a doula. Her labor and delivery experience was challenging, but also amazingly rewarding, and the support she got from her doula made her want to become one.

Lucy chose a doula for her birth because becoming a first-time mom was such an unknown, and because she had some fear about giving birth in a hospital. What she found was that having another person there as her advocate helped make the whole birth experience so much more peaceful and relaxing.

Lucy wants to offer mothers and fathers the same kind of peace and guidance, and help calm any fears or anxieties to help them get through this new exciting experience. Her own labor and delivery turned this into a passion, and something she really wants to keep passing along to other moms.

In early 2014, Lucy had the opportunity to train with Debra Pascali-Bonaro, one of the original founding members of DONA International.
